The Making of Powel Hand Tufted Rug

A contemporary interpretation of patchwork composition, Powell is inspired by the intricate artistry of Indian architectural carving and mosaic tiles. This design references a love for maximalist patterns, piecing blocks of motifs together like a patchwork quilt.

Incorporating 3-dimensional effects, each Powell rug is individually crafted using 100% wool, creating a dense and long-lasting pile that adds texture to the colours. The motifs are carved by hand to create a distinct 3-dimensional effect.

Highlighting a commitment to quality, our hand-produced rugs undergo a series of processes, with each step executed by hand, by skilled craftspeople. This investment in process, expertise, and time results in a rug that we are proud to share with the world.

Margo Selby rugs are hand-produced in India by highly skilled artisans. Our studio works directly with communities of dyers, weavers, tufters, and knotters in longstanding partnerships. Margo regularly travels to India to meet with our rug makers, and we are proud to work with these traditional craftspeople.
