Margo Selby at Collect 2024
Crafts Council's International Art Fair for Modern Craft + Design

1 - 3 March, 2024, Somerset House, London

(Private Views 28 + 29 February)

Represented by Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Margo Selby returned to Collect Art Fair, with moon landing; a site-specific installation, created in collaboration with composer Helen Caddick.

moon landing is an immersive artwork comprising a hand woven textile, 16 meters in height by Margo Selby, and a newly composed musical piece scored for strings by Helen Caddick. The textile art was suspended within the 5-story void of Somerset House's Stamp Stairwell, viewable in-the-round as you ascend and descend the winding stairs.

Concept
The project was inspired by the women who used their weaving skills and ability to visualise complicated patterns to create the integrated circuit designs used in the guidance and control systems of the Apollo spacecraft which resulted in the successful 1969 moon landing.

Talk
Margo Selby in Conversation with Cynthia Corbett: Weaving, the art of textile creation, and the inspiration behind Margo Selby's Installation piece, moon landing in the stairwell of Somerset House 2024.

Performance
