Living in a Material World
Lyon & Turnbull

Connaught Street, London
16 - 27 September 2024
10:00 – 16:00
No appointment necessary.

In collaboration with the Crafts Study Centre, part of the University for the Creative Arts, the Living in a Material World exhibition shines a spotlight on contemporary craft and examines the changing nature and evolution of craft in Britain over the last 50 years.

Makers have been chosen for their understanding of materials and a mastery of their chosen discipline. The exhibition highlights work by leading craftspeople who are both internationally regarded such as Hans Coper and Peter Collingwood, and highly influential figures that are less familiar outside craft circles, such as Mary Farmer and Richard Kell.

Its such a privilege to be exhibited alongside influential makers such as Hans Coper, Peter Collingwood, Mary Farmer and Tadek Buetlich  - all makers who have made a significant impression on the world of contemporary craft over the past 50 years and who I have looked up over the years as I have developed my practice. It feels like an exciting time to be a crafts person as I feel we are having an explosion of recognition within fine art galleries and auction houses as well as the traditional spaces which have supported craft.

This exhibition is a great opportunity to see a collection of important pieces from the world of craft across a range of materials.
