To mark the 60th birthday of the iconic British design and retail brand Habitat, Margo Selby was invited to be a guest designer alongside industry icons including Sebastian Conran, Felix Conran and Tord Boontje, to design a capsule collection for their 60th anniversary range.

Margo’s collection of textiles and lighting draws inspiration from the Habitat archive, particularly the graphic, primary aesthetic from the brand’s archive from the 70s & 80s.

This aesthetic resonated with Margo’s ongoing fascination with typography and its potential in pattern design. The colour application is bold and references iconic colours from Habitat’s history such as the Yves Kelin blue.

Habitat was one of the first collaborators Margo worked with when she emerged as an independent textile designer, with some of her designs enduring to this day.

"It’s a huge honour to be invited back to delve into the rich archive of Habitat. It’s the colour and forms I’ve so enjoyed playing with, especially with the Klee table lamp and lighting accessories. The 60th Anniversary Collection has a sense of vibrancy and positivity that I find uplifting, and I’m proud to be a part of it."
