Margo Selby Studio has a longstanding collaboration with carpet-makers Alternative Flooring. We have designed several collections for Alternative, from 100% British Wool Axminsters, to hardwearing loop-weave carpets for wall-to-wall, runners or bespoke rugs.

The first carpets we made were ‘Quirky Broadloom’ Shuttle and Fair Isle. These designs were inspired by Margo’s handweaving practice, and knowledge of weave structures – taking the forms as motifs and blowing them up.

People – Planet – Product; the impetus for our collaboration has been a personal/professional relationship between Margo and Lorna Haigh as creative people; they bonded over their shared concern for environmental sustainability and a desire to see the textiles industry improve practice.
